The Supernaturals gang are back in the third book in the series, The Supernaturals and the Divine Download, and it is a great read! It is written by prolific author Andy Robb who is an expert in communicating the truth about the Holy Spirit and how to live as a follower of Jesus to today's children.
Each book focusses in on a different person in the gang and their gifts (superpowers) from the Holy Spirit. This time we learn more about Mangala, who is seeking to grow in her 'superpowers' of discernment and wisdom, whilst being part of a skateboarding competition! I love the way these gifts are brought into the normal lives of the children as they are out with friends, doing the things they love like skateboarding or going to the movies. It is such a wonderful demonstration of how the Holy Spirit wants to equip everyone to receive and use His amazing gifts in everyday life!
There is a reality about the stories as the characters navigate their faith in relation to different aspects of their lives such as their emotions, their families and friends, difficult circumstances and those who don't yet know Jesus. I like the way we journey with the characters - I certainly liked Mangala!
Andy Robb and Sarah Grace Publishing are doing fantastic work to empower children today to be filled with the Spirit and to live lives that impact the world around them with the Kingdom of God. I would recommend getting these books for your 8-11 year olds, or to use in your children's ministry, and start the conversation and experience of a lifetime with the Holy Spirit.
I personally am extremely passionate about children being equipped and empowered - we need their insights, wisdom and revelation now - they are part of the church of today. So let's get involved with them, asking for the gifts of the Spirit, believing they have been received and then stepping out in faith to use them. Mistakes will happen, and I love the way the books show the children learning and growing, but lives will be impacted and transformed!
Perfect for ages 8-11 and the typeface is dyslexia friendly too!
Mangala loved being part of The Supernaturals and doing life with them. Being a follower of Jesus was amazing, but when things got tough it was good having friends around you who were Christians, to encourage you and to cheer you on.
