Holy Spirit fill me up!

Everyday Resources: a tray, rolled oats or rice or pasta, pots, cups, wooden spoons, safe cutlery. Alternatively use cups and jugs during bath time or paddling pool/bowls of water out in the sunshine.

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:4 NCV

A great activity for experiencing being filled with the Holy Spirit as you play and explore.

Play with the containers and items you've selected. Invite your child to find ways to fill them up with the sensory items or with water. Challenge an older child to do this in a set time or with only one hand or in as few goes as possible...

Chat about full, empty and overflowing as you play and explore together.

Say ‘Did you know that the Holy Spirit wants to fill us up too, just like we are filling these containers up? He has so much love and joy for us. He wants us to know it and to feel it, so we are full to overflowing!’

Wonder: connect with your child's natural sense of exploration and wonder. Seek to notice what they are drawn to and how they play. Be open to the Holy Spirit teaching you through your child.

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you both up as you pour objects from one container to another: 'Holy Spirit fill me up with your love, with your joy, with your power, with your kindness… and more! I wonder how you feel now... I can feel...'

Encourage your child that the Holy Spirit doesn't want us running on empty. He is with us everyday and every night, to equip us, strengthen us and help us!

Keep getting filled up with the Holy Spirit every day!
