I'll focus in on the newest book - 'Around the Bible with 10 Extraordinary Children'. The ten stories cover a wide range of Old and New Testament bible stories, exploring the more unusual escapades of well known bible characters, such as Jacob and Moses, as well as bringing lesser read characters such as Mephibosheth and Ehud into the limelight. Rahab, Martha, Zacchaeus, the Samaritan woman, Paul and, of course, Jesus are also featured.
There’s a brief story of a child in today’s world facing a challenge, obstacle or struggle to introduce each bible tale. These are sensitively but honestly written and I love the way they are linked to and even teamed up with the bible character: “We wish Sadie could meet Jacob”, “I would love Molly to meet Zac.” A brilliant opportunity to get your imagination warmed up and ready to be let loose on each highly descriptive narrative.
Many thought provoking themes are explored through the tales such as belonging, overcoming, forgiveness, kindness and much more. There is an overarching message that, no matter our differences and struggles, each one of us is never forgotten but deeply valued by a loving God.
