Here is the second book in the brand new The Supernaturals series, all about a group of children who are friends with Jesus. They have learnt that they each have different superpowers (gifts) from the Holy Spirit and they call themselves the Supernaturals. Each story explores one of these gifts in greater detail through their everyday experiences at school, church and home.
This newest book, The Supernaturals and the Voice of God, is about the gift of Prophecy - hearing God's words and sharing them with others. We focus in on one of the gang, Abdoul, as he seeks to grow in using this gift to encourage someone else who is struggling. There are a few ups and downs and learning experiences for Abdoul, but through the help of God and his friends he finds a way through.
These books are easy to read, short stories, with a dyslexia friendly font. There are plenty of everyday life experiences to relate to, which hopefully will encourage children that they too can be like the Supernaturals gang and have a go at sharing God's love, power and encouragement with others, even if it may be a bit awkward and uncomfortable at times.
There's a wonderful overarching message of God being with us as we seek to step out in faith and that the gifts need to be teamed up with acts of love. I like the extra details of what prophecy is and an opportunity for the reader to become friends with Jesus themselves.
This book would be really useful for launching children into realising they too can ask for and receive the gift of prophecy as well as an encouragement to those who already have some understanding of it. It could be helpful to start a conversation around perceiving God's voice and to explore some of the ways He speaks to us. Often it's the first thing that pops into our heads after we ask - it could be a thought, a movie in our heads, a feeling, a memory, a colour, a number and more! Anything that is encouraging, strengthening or comforting. See 1 Corinthians 14:3
Once Jonny had shared these words of encouragement Abdoul's mood seemed to lift immediately. It was as if God himself had reminded Abdoul how much he mattered and that he liked him just the way he was.

Ignite a child to believe for, and be released into, the gift of prophecy. A great read for ages 7-11!
