Everyday Resources: blanket or a duvet, a light up toy torch or real torch, LED candles
Jesus talked to the people again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The person who follows me will never live in darkness but will have the light that gives life.”
John 8:12 NCV
Play hiding under blankets or a duvet and turn on a toy torch or switch on an LED candle or jump out into the light!
Hide behind hands or gently under a little blanket and say 'Peekaboo... into the light!' with a baby.
Show your younger child dark and light. Can they make it dark? Can they make it light? Be on the lookout for the brightest lights when out and about!
Chat with your older child about the sources of light they know and that, whenever it is dark, just lighting a candle or switching on the light changes everything.
Read the bible verse: Did you know that the bible says Jesus is the light of the world? So just like switching on a light in a dark place, He brings light to us and to everyone! Chat simply about how Jesus says we are the light too so we can take His love and light everywhere we go! WOW!
You could say over yourselves that you are Jesus’ light as you switch on the candles or a torch!
Encourage your older child to think of places that need more of Jesus’ light. Could they ask Jesus for His ideas of ways to pray, speak and release His light into those situations or spaces?
Be creative, be bold, be the light!
