Everyday Resources: a range of pebbles or stones, marker pens, paint, pot or bag to keep them in, optional white paint
When a believing person prays, great things happen.
James 5:16 NCV
Go on a pebble hunt in the garden, park or at the beach.
Wash your pebbles then explore them and chat about why you’ve chosen them.
Explain that we are going to use these pebbles to help us pray! Did you know our prayers our powerful? Father God always hears our prayers and when we pray great things happen. We can trust that He knows the best way to answer our prayers.
Think about some places, people or themes that are important to your child or your family that you want to pray about such as particular people, your city, town or village, your church, school, work places, other nations, leaders, or for healing, salvation, friendships, please, sorry, thank you…
Choose a pebble for each theme. Keep it simple for younger children by choosing one or two. Challenge your older child to pick more themes.
Decorate: If your pebbles are very dark in colour you may want to pre-paint them with white paint and allow to dry before decorating. Once your pebbles are ready, decorate with marker pens or paint. Some suggestions: hearts, happy or sad faces, flags, a cross, colours, numbers… Be creative!
Choose a special place, bag or pot to keep your pebbles in once they are dry.
Get praying: Use regularly to aid your prayer times! Let’s get out your precious prayer pebbles. Which one shall we choose? What is on God’s heart for this? What is the Holy Spirit showing you? What can we declare? Are there any bible verses about this? I wonder what Jesus thinks...
Let your prayer times be child-led and fun!
